MacDonald's
Santa Parade ~ November 29, 2001

Sporting my new
costume I had a
marvellous day parading through Christchurch City Streets at the annual MacDonald's Santa Parade in late November, 2001.
Helped by scrutineers Lynne and Theressa Taylor, Christine and daughter,
Kelly Murray and her friend. We were escorted in a lovely green Ford vintage car by
driver, David Dacombe of Rangiora.
The huge crowd (around 100,000) waved and shouted to us and
the hundreds of other people in their colourful costumes and creative floats. It was just so rewarding to see so many people happy, smiling and
enjoying the wonderful parade and superb weather. Over 400 floats took part
in this year's parade.
We were placed in section 5, with the New Zealand Army Band
proceeding us. The band was fantastic with their displays of marching and outstanding
musical performances. Many thanks go to the wonderful organisers of this event, especially
Parade Manager, Pam
Morris, this magical event is so well
planned and managed, it is certainly a pleasure to take part and be
involved in.
